My name is Erin and I am a survivor bunny. Well, perhaps it would be more accurate to say surviving bunny, but that doesn’t sound quite as cool as a blog name. Gives the impression that all the other bunnies died. Which would be sad and a bum way to start a blog. What I’m getting at is that survival is a present continuous – you never stop surviving, until you stop surviving. I’m in the process of surviving a whole truckload of stuff – depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, endometriosis, two successive burnouts, and the loss of a beloved job. So, you could say most of it’s in my head. But then I’d have to karate chop you and feed you to the killer rabbit from Monty Python’s Holy Grail. We’re big buddies.
Anyway, back to the bit about surviving. I’ve tried a lot of different things, including experimenting with drugs (the medicinal kind, although going by the side effects there doesn’t seem to be a hang of a lot of difference from recreational drugs except that bad trips are guaranteed) and EMDR Therapy (which I recommend; you always feel better after telling a completely non-judgmental, un-invested person about how horrible everything is). I’ve also done nutrition courses, tried vitamins and supplements, and exercise. Everything has some benefit. But the only thing that actually makes me want to get up in the morning is writing. My mind never switches off; I’m constantly writing books, screenplays, theses, and other pieces of useless information in my head. I think my internal monologue is a tad overactive. So instead of keeping it all in and fueling my anxiety-driven body, I decided to spew it all out into the interweb and see what happens. The only thing that actually makes me want to get up in the morning is writing.
